Our Banabar is among the Great Taste winners of 2020. Great Taste, the world’s most trusted food and drink awards, has announced its stars of 2020. Out of 12,777 products sent in from 106 different countries, our Banabar Goji & Chia and Banabar Cacao & Hazelnut were awarded a 1-star Great Taste award, which means judges dubbed it a food that delivers fantastic flavour.

Judged by 144 of the most discerning palates, belonging to food critics, chefs, cooks, restaurateurs, buyers, retailers and producers, as well as food writers and journalists, Great Taste is the most coveted of all food and drink awards.  Recognised as a stamp of excellence among consumers and retailers alike, Great Taste values taste above all else, with no regard for branding and packaging. Whether it is cake, coffee, kippers or kombucha being judged, all products are removed from their wrapper, jar, box or bottle before being tasted. 

As well as a badge of honour, the unmistakeable black and gold Great Taste label is a signpost to an outstanding product, which has been discovered through hours and hours of blind tasting. Great Taste judges look for great texture and appearance. They judge the quality of ingredients and how well the maker has put the food or drink together. But above all, they look for truly great taste.

Banabar Goji & Chia

"An appealing looking bar, richly dark with a fruity aroma. We enjoyed the mouthfeel, as it has a good bite and chew, giving the feeling of eating something substantial. Well balanced flavours from the banana and date, and the level of sweetness was pitched well. A tasty bar which would be great for a wholesome snack on the move."

"We thought this was delicious. Intense fresh banana with no confected notes have been blended well with fruity sweet/sour goji and textured chia. Delightful, not overly sweet and full of flavour."

Banabar Cacao & Hazelnut

"Firm textured from generous amount of nuts and other ingredients. A fresh and fruity banana nose leads through to the flavour - it's delightfully fresh and not confected at all. The texture is chewy, with lovely crunchy bits. We thought it was very well balanced and quite delicious. A great snack on the go to offer you energy, but with a big element of scrumptiousness!"

"A rich, dark, appealing looking bar with a good natural banana and hazelnut aroma. The texture of the bar is a pleasant mixture of chewy fruit and crunchy nuts and nibs of cacao. Overall, it has a clean, naturalness to it that is very appealing and not overly sweet. A good product, well-executed."
